CHICAGO -- Spirent Communications(TM) (NYSE: SPM - News; LSE: SPT - News) today announced that it has conducted more than 50 public and private tests around the world this year, including participation in two SUPERDemos and five vendor tests at the SUPERCOMM trade show in Chicago, June 21-24, 2004.

Spirent's Advanced Test Programs (ATP) will utilize the company's newly introduced TRT Interactive running on the Spirent SmartBits platform to enable 30 Metro Ethernet Forum member companies to demonstrate for the first time interoperability capabilities and conformance to the recently ratified Metro Ethernet standards. Spirent also will support the Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) and Frame Relay (FR) Alliance SUPERdemo. It will provide a powerful combination of in-depth testing expertise and three leading test systems, the Spirent Abacus, SmartBits and AX/4000 Test Systems, to enable vendors to showcase the most advanced service provider applications including voice over IP (VoIP) and video over an MPLS network.

"Our primary focus at SUPERCOMM this year is IP convergence," said Neil Anderson, senior director of services for Spirent Communications. "As a leader of test solutions, we are honored to provide the systems necessary for these vendors to validate and showcase the capabilities of their newest products. Testing continues to be the critical component for rapid and reliable deployment of new technologies. These SUPERdemos provide an opportunity for the industry to see the advancements that have been made."
