SAN DIEGO -- Solectek Corporation, a leader in the broadband wireless networking industry, today announced that it has been awarded a turnkey contract to expand an inter-island wireless network from the government of the British Virgin Islands (BVI). This new contract enhances the Solectek broadband wireless network that has been successfully running since 2001.

The current phase of network expansion adds high speed backbone links among major islands and networking between various government agencies on each island. As with previous phases, Solectek will provide a complete solution including wireless backbone installation and local last-mile connectivity using its 5 GHz SkyWay products.

The contract includes equipment provisioning, network design, installation and configuration services for a network of almost 100 nodes. As a result, the BVI government will soon own and operate its own data communication infrastructure, without the need to deploy or rent expensive underwater cables, all constructed within a matter of months and without recurring charges for continued usage.

"We are pleased to continue serving the BVI Government. It is a testament to the good work Solectek has done and we will continue to ensure that the BVI network meets all of the Government's objectives. This is truly a showcase of Solectek's capabilities in hardware products, system integration, design services, field engineering, and long-term maintenance support for a complex large-scale network," says Dan Sparks, Director of International Sales for Solectek.
