LONDON -- RoamPoint, an independent global WLAN roaming hub, today announces the appointment of Damien Brady as Director. Damien has assumed responsibility for all the commercial and operational aspects of the business. With 18 years experience in senior management roles within telecommunications, media and consulting firms, Damien has a strong understanding of the dynamics of global markets, business and product development and mobile technology.

Damien joins from EccoSphere, a global solutions company in the media and telecommunications marketplace, where he was CEO. During his tenure there, he built the consulting practice that worked exclusively with NTT DoCoMo i-mode-capable carriers and service providers on global expansion programmes, developed applications, solutions, corporate programs and content partnerships between new carriers (I-Mode) and new suppliers. He also worked closely with EDS (global investment wireless division) and Virgin (mobile and broadband division) on projects concerning their interconnect, peering, content, business development and global expansion strategies.

Prior to EccoSphere, Damien was CEO of Eisa, an EMEA new media company. Under his leadership, Eisa became one of the fastest growing groups in EMEA with the company’s market capitalisation growing from $150 million to several billion and revenue increasing from $1 million to $750 million over a three year period, which included partnerships with The Walt Disney Company, UUNET and Fairfax. Before Eisa, he held several senior executive roles throughout Europe and the Asia Pacific region with Andersen Consulting, Mitsui and Cable & Wireless.

Damien Brady, Director, RoamPoint, said: “My aim is to make RoamPoint the roaming platform of choice among service providers globally. If we are to see a marked global increase in the adoption of wireless broadband, users need to experience a consistent and seamless service across all networks – logging-on in the most convenient way and with just one bill to pay. I will strive to make this a reality.”

RoamPoint is an independent division of WLAN network operator, The Cloud. George Polk, CEO, The Cloud, said: “Damien joins RoamPoint at a very exciting time. Since April this year, RoamPoint has already linked up 8,000 hotspots worldwide and developed relationships with a number of big name mobile network operators. With Damien on board, we are confident of the continued success of the company. His extensive experience within the global mobile marketplace will also provide the business the additional impetus to make RoamPoint an industry defining player in the WLAN space.”
