TEL AVIV -- At Telecom Israel, to be held in Tel Aviv in November, RAD Data Communications will be featuring its new RIC-155GE converter, which enables the efficient and cost-effective connection of Gigabit Ethernet traffic over STM-1/OC-3 lines.
The past few years have seen a significant increase in the volume of data traffic over wide area networks (WANs) and metro area networks (MANs). Ethernet has become the technology of choice for data transport because of its widespread use in local area networks (LANs), scalability, simplicity and cost.
"Although there has been some deployment of next generation networks, there is still an enormous installed base of legacy infrastructure," explains Ramon Horkany, RIC-155GE Product Manager at RAD Data Communications. "The RIC-155GE is the simplest and most economical way to transport Gigabit Ethernet protocol over STM/OC-3C infrastructure, which was engineered primarily to handle voice traffic," he continues.
