Qualcomm announces retirement of QWBS president; appoints Joan Waltman as successor

SAN DIEGO -- QUALCOMM Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), pioneer and world leader of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) digital wireless technology, today announced that Joan Waltman has been appointed president of QUALCOMM Wireless Business Solutions (QWBS), the Company's B2B wireless solutions division. Waltman, who most recently served as senior vice president of engineering, product development and global network services for QWBS, assumed her new role effective Monday. Chris Wolfe, who has served as president since May 2001, will remain with QWBS until August 31.

“A valued employee of QUALCOMM for 15 years, Joan has been instrumental in strengthening the organization technically and managerially, driving operational efficiency with a customer-centric focus throughout QWBS' engineering organization,” said Steven R. Altman, president-elect, QUALCOMM. “She has been a leader in multiple managerial roles at QWBS, actively participating in strategic planning and business operations. Joan and her team have ensured that QUALCOMM's wireless technologies are evolving to meet QWBS customers' changing business needs, from expansion into new vertical markets such as construction, to next-generation solutions that incorporate the latest in digital and satellite technologies.
