QUALCOMM's OmniTRACS system is a satellite-based mobile communications and tracking system that provides real-time messaging and position reporting between fleets and their operations centers. Messages are sent via satellite through QUALCOMM's Network Management Center to dispatch centers throughout the United States. The OmniTRACS system is an interactive, fully integrated information management system that includes two-way mobile communications, satellite tracking and fleet management software. QUALCOMM's OmniExpress(R) system is a Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA)-based digital wireless communications solution that offers metropolitan areas and major highway corridors continuous, two-way data, and voice communication vehicle tracking, and effective information management. In a separate release: QUALCOMM Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), the leader in mobile communications for the transportation industry, today announced the certification of transportation software providers Aurora Software, FreightDATA Software and GPSNet Technologies to its Partner Program. The newly certified software providers are part of a program, first established by QUALCOMM in 1996, to recognize software companies that successfully integrate their transportation management software programs with QUALCOMM's mobile communications systems. "QUALCOMM has long believed in and is committed to working with companies who bring value to their customers," said Glynn Spangenberg, vice president of transportation and logistics business operations for QUALCOMM Wireless Business Solutions. "We created the Certified Software Providers program to recognize those companies that go the extra mile to not only integrate their software to QUALCOMM's mobile communications system but do so in such a way that adds value to both solutions." QUALCOMM's Certified Software Providers Program identifies companies that have successfully developed an interface between their transportation management software and QUALCOMM's mobile communications software, known as QTRACS. Each program participant has met certain qualification standards to enter the program, which include developing the interface components to QUALCOMM specifications, providing their transportation management system specifications and software support policy, and having an established customer base.
