PLEASANTON, Calif. -- Pronto Networks, a leading provider of carrier-class OSS solutions for large Wi-Fi hot spot networks, today announced that Alvarion Ltd. (NASDAQ:ALVR), a leading provider of Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) solutions, is integrating Pronto Networks' Public WLAN solution into one of its products. Under this agreement, Alvarion will sell Pronto's carrier-class public WLAN infrastructure solution as part of its end-to-end solution for large public Hotspot networks.

"This is a win-win for both parties," said Rudy Leser, VP Marketing of Alvarion Ltd. "Pronto's public WLAN networking solution is a cost-effective solution that complements our Hotspot product portfolio. Pronto's solution seamlessly interoperates with our product line, providing service providers entering the fast-growing public Wi-Fi market a true end-to-end solution. The Alvarion solution can also be easily integrated with carriers' existing billing and customer care systems."

"Pronto is very pleased to announce this milestone deal," said Jasbir Singh, CEO of Pronto Networks. "The Pronto-powered Alvarion solution for Hotspots, coupled with Alvarion's leading fixed wireless solutions, will provide network operators a 'best-of-breed' solution."

The Alvarion P-WLAN solution is based on Pronto's Hotspot Networking System, infrastructure for public Wi-Fi networks. The end-to-end Alvarion solution consists of the back-end Operational Support System (OSS) software, Public Access Controller (PAC), a highly integrated access point and gateway in a plug-n-play device and a superior DS.11 outdoor-indoor access point. The OSS is responsible for all authentication, pre-paid and post-paid billing, credit card processing, and roaming settlement for large public Wi-Fi networks, and remotely manages and updates the Alvarion PACs in the field.
