WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Prima Luci, (First Light) a cutting edge optical component company announced today that it has raised $2 million from a private investment group.

"In this risk averse market, I am extremely pleased with the confidence our investors have in Prima Luci's ability to change the landscape of the photonic industry with our state of the art technology," stated Frank Coloccia, co-Founder and CEO.

Prima Luci has invented the "electronic transistor" for the photonic industry. This monumental break through, enables light to power light creating a wide range of applications and dramatic improvements wherever data must move from one point to another. Companies adopting this technology realize a huge competitive advantage in the fiber optic market by delivering products that are better, faster and cheaper.

Prima Luci has the only patented method of truly redirecting light pulses completely photonically. In February 2004 the company achieved a major milestone, introducing an "all-photonic" dispersion compensator operating at rates of up to 160Gbps, which is the fastest in the industry.

Funding will enable Prima Luci to complete the building and delivery of engineering samples ordered by several major optical system manufacturers. This next generation prototype will be produced on a chip the size of 1mm x 1mm costing up to 90% less that other solutions currently available.
