Motorola and Power & Tel sign distribution agreement for wireless broadband products
June 9, 2005
CHICAGO -- In an effort to provide "last mile" high-speed data connectivity to customers of independent telephone companies, Motorola's Wireless Broadband Business and Power & Telephone Supply Co. have signed a distribution agreement for wireless broadband equipment aimed at extending existing telephone data networks.
Both companies are exhibiting Motorola's Canopy(TM) Platform during SUPERCOMM 2005, June 6-9, at Chicago's McCormick Place. The Canopy Platform is being exhibited in Motorola's Booth 48039 and Power & Tel's Booth 24015.
"We are always looking to ensure that our product portfolio meets the full needs of our customers," said Jim Drain, vice president of the Telephone Group for Memphis, Tenn.-based Power & Tel. "Having a strong wireless offering is becoming essential in the independent telephone market. We are extremely thrilled to be working with Motorola, which is known industry-wide for the quality of their products and technology. The Canopy portfolio should be an ideal fit for our independent local exchange carrier (ILEC) customers that are seeking affordable and reliable ways to extend their DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) services to areas they just can't reach with fiber."
