HAMBURG -- PANDATEL AG, a copper line and optical fiber network access and transmission specialist, acquires 100 percent of Lightmaze Solutions AG, a technologically pioneering firm offering communication solutions for the introduction of intelligent optical networks. It has been agreed to observe secrecy about the purchase price.

Lightmaze Solutions offers network providers active in the storage, metro and cross-regional market segments intelligent optical network solutions with a guaranteed future. Since its foundation in 2000, a team of 25 specialists has been developing next generation optical systems. The company integrates the four most important components of modern networks, WDM (wavelength division multiplexing), TDM (time division multiplexing), cross connect and intelligent network management in highly modularized products. This integration offers network providers undreamt-of opportunities for network design with comparatively low administration and investment costs, and at the same time completely new means of "Return on Investment". The product platform of Lightmaze Solutions AG reduces the complexity of modern networks and introduces intelligence into previously rigid infrastructures.

"The acquisition of Lightmaze Solutions AG demonstrates a strong market commitment to optical networking systems and a project-based business model. This step is intended to send a clear signal to the market that, hereafter, Pandatel will increasingly address the carrier market and that towards this goal, the products of Lightmaze Solutions AG form an ideal complement to Pandatel's product portfolio. Pandatel is now well-positioned for tenders that require a complete set of cross-market technologies which allows it to cover the full spectrum of applications from access to metro segments", said Norbert Wienck, CEO of PANDATEL AG.
