Optiwave introduces OptiSystem 11.0
May 2, 2012
OTTAWA -- Optiwave Systems Inc., the leading provider of optical component and system design tools, today announced the immediate availability of OptiSystem 11.0, the latest version of its optical communication system design suite. This major release delivers two new key features: the introduction of large-scale parallel processing via a graphical processing unit (GPU) card for acceleration of computation-intensive scientific and engineering simulations; and the ability to perform automated co-simulation of optical and electronic designs using OptiSPICE (Optiwave’s optoelectronic circuit simulator).
OptiSystem 11.0 employs Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA) allowing programmers to take full advantage of the massive parallel computing power of an NVIDIA graphics card. "OptiSystem now has the ability to run simulations up to five times faster" said Dr. Jan Jakubczyk, President of Optiwave. "This dramatic speed increase will allow users to design, test, and simulate optical communication links in a fraction of the time.”
