BARCELONA -- OPTICOM - the Perceptual Quality Experts from Germany - today announced to unleash PEXQ, the Next Level of Perceptual Quality. PEXQ is the ideal 'all-in-one' test suite for developers, manufacturers and operators. Based on PESQ[1], PEAQ[2], PEVQ[3] and PEDQ[4] the software provides the most comprehensive standards-based MOS-KPI (Mean Opinion Score - Key Performance Index) set to score voice, audio/visual and data download quality as experienced by subscribers.

The 'X' of PEXQ just symbolizes the ongoing evolution of perceptual QoE metrics, and pinpoints to one of the key-features of the new measurement software: Users can now more easily analyze signals of various formats, while the PEXQ software will guide them like an academic expert in optimally combining the latest testing standards for the proper context. If, for instance, the software detects packets of a video telephony call, it will run PEVQ to process a MOS scoring on the video quality along with the wide-band version of PESQ on the voice part and combine the two MOS values in a joint Audio/Visual Quality KPI. This integrated approach ensures repeatable, reliable results for each use case while perfectly matching the steadily increasing range of complex test recommendations.

"With the increasing number of PEVQ OEM licensees, we have reason to believe from our customers' independent evaluations and their feedback that we currently offer the best algorithm for multimedia video quality testing in the market space." says Michael Keyhl, CEO and founder of OPTICOM. "Combined with PESQ and PEAQ this is not only the most trusted A/V Quality Test Suite in the Industry, but in fact the one KPI set that describes all dimensions of QoS as perceived by subscribers. Thus we provide the quality figures searched for by operators so desperately to make Quad-Play work."
