HERZLIYA, Israel -- Optibase, Ltd. (NASDAQ: OBAS), a leader in digital video encoding and streaming solutions, today announced the implementation of MXF (Material eXchange Format) on the MPEG MovieMaker 200S Publisher, Optibase’s MPEG-2 encoding platform. Also, Optibase, Ltd. and LSI Logic Corporation (NYSE:LSI) announced the implementation of Sony® MPEG IMXTM Technology on the same encoding platform.

With these additions, the MPEG MovieMaker 200S Publisher with the MPEG Composer 200 becomes a key component of ingest systems for TV production, enabling the capture of high-quality video files for later retrieval and editing.

MXF is a file wrapper for video, audio and metadata and as such is an interchange format – a single currency for transactions over networks between servers, tape streamers and to digital archives. MXF is ideal for professional video and broadcast companies that have been using proprietary file formats for years. MXF allows an open standard for preserving all of the data through the production and post production workflow. It is a file format suitable for any compression scheme, operating system or video format.

“Optibase has a tradition of embracing industry standards to support the needs of our customers,” said David Sackstein, general manager, Building Blocks Business Unit, Optibase. “MXF, an emerging standard, will enable our customers to increase the efficiency of the workflow in the TV production chain.”

The implementation of Sony MPEG IMX Technology into Optibase’s encoding platform is a result of a close collaboration between Optibase and LSI Logic Corporation, a leader in multimedia processing for the Digital Home.

“Optibase has leveraged LSI Logic’s superior quality DVxpert® codec for the integration of Sony MPEG IMX Technology into our encoding platform”, added Sackstein, “a technology which expands the Optibase offering, and enhances Optibase’s appeal in the TV production market.”

“Delivering this type of product to the market reinforces our strong relationship with industry leaders like Optibase, as well as our continued commitment to providing full-featured products in the digital video codec space,” said Bob Saffari, senior director of marketing for Advanced Video Products, LSI Logic Broadband Entertainment Division. “Our DVxpert product family, with its long-standing quality and reliability continues to evolve to address market requirements.”
