MIDDLEBURY, Conn. -- General DataComm Industries, Inc. today announced that it has been advised by the New York Stock Exchange that the Exchange had accelerated its decision to suspend trading in the Company's Common Stock to the close of business Tuesday, August 21st, 2001. The Company had previously been advised by the Exchange that the Exchange would move to have the Company's stock delisted prior to the opening of business, on Monday, August 27, 2001. The Company does not plan to appeal that decision. General DataComm is working to ensure the greatest amount of liquidity possible in the trading of its stock for its shareholders. The Company has initiated discussions with a number of firms that have expressed interest in becoming market makers for General DataComm. The Company expects that its stock will be traded on the OTC Bulletin Board within the next few weeks. In the interim, the Company's stock is trading on the inter-dealer network known as The Pink Sheets, under the ticker symbol GDII.
