BOSTON -- Nortel Networks (NYSE:NT)(TSE:NT.) announced today that it has been selected as the primaryprovider of dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) technologyby SBC Communications (NYSE:SBC) under a multi-year metro opticalcontract. The deployment of Nortel Networks leading metro opticalproducts by SBC expands an ongoing strategic relationship between thetwo companies. With Nortel Networks OPTera Metro Multiservice platforms featuringDWDM, SBC, through its operating companies, will deliver itsMulti-Service Optical Networking (MON) service and Data CPE productofferings (see SBC Offers Enterprises Efficient, Scalable Way toConnect Mainframes, Data Centers and Storage Networks withinMetropolitan Areas, Oct. 3, 2001, news release) to customers seekingnative protocol, high bandwidth optical connectivity in a metropolitanarea.
