TORONTO -- Nortel(1) (TSX: NT)(NYSE: NT) President and Chief Executive Officer Mike Zafirovski today announced the appointment of Jeff Townley as Chief Procurement Officer.

Townley, whose appointment is effective immediately, will report to Joel Hackney, senior vice president, Global Operations and Quality. Townley will relocate to China and manage all of Nortel's supplier relationships as well as all of Nortel's annual purchases.
