Nextel expands coverage in coastal Georgia

NORCROSS, Ga. -- Nextel Communications Inc. (NASDAQ:NXTL), today announced significant enhancements to its fixed infrastructure and wireless service in coastal Georgia. Recently expanded in preparation for last week's gathering of world leaders at the G-8 Summit on Sea Island, Ga., these improvements more than doubled Nextel's coverage in the region. Areas benefiting from Nextel's build-out include Savannah, Ft. Stewart, Kings Base, Brunswick, Statesboro, Glynn County, Chatham County, St. Simons Island and Sea Island.
