A Nokia sale of mobile, especially to the US, would be nuts
Nokia's hiring of Intel's Justin Hotard to be its new CEO has set tongues wagging again about a mobile exit, but it would look counterintuitive and inadvisable.
HP and NetSpira Networks deliver to Telefónica Móviles an innovative solution to enable content charging for i-mode services
September 15, 2003
MADRID -- HP, through its Consulting and Integration Division, has deployed at Telefónica Móviles España a solution, based on the NetSpira GSN product from NetSpira Networks, for the delivery and charging of mobile data services.
The solution from HP and NetSpira Networks, delivered in record time, provides Telefónica Móviles the ability to define richer and more attractive services for its subscribers, and to implement the billing schemes that better fit its business model.
The NetSpira GSN product sits between the transport network and the existing Operation Support Systems (OSS) and Operation Business Systems (BSS) infrastructure. By monitoring traffic and controlling data sessions, either based on operator-defined rules or following the instructions of external elements, NetSpira GSN goes beyond simple GPRS/UMTS volume-based charging, making it possible to charge according to the content delivered, such as the number of successful downloads or making all access to certain websites free.
As a complement to this deployment, which uses an HP hardware platform, Telefónica Móviles has hired the HP Mission Critical services, which assure the high availability, performance and security requirements of the solution, according to a seies of internationalstandards like ITIL (Information Technology Infraestructure Library).
The solution deployed is part of the portfolio of solutions included in the HP Mobile Services Delivery Platform (MSDP), which also includes the capability to facilitate event charging for Value Added Services, or the HP Mobile E-Services Server platform to compose webservices, also deployed at Telefónica Móviles.
