LAS VEGAS -- NETGEAR(R), Inc., (NASDAQ:NTGR) a worldwide provider of technologically advanced, branded networking products, and Video54 Technologies, Inc., a provider of innovative technologies and products to enable the digital media networking ecosystem, today announced at CES 2005 that the two companies have teamed on RangeMax(TM) technology to provide industry-best wireless range and speeds. RangeMax, which will be demonstrated at NETGEAR's booth (#35812), is designed to boost wireless range in home networks and eliminate dead spots, vastly improving support for bandwidth-intensive applications such as streaming audio and video, playing online games and transferring large data files.

Based on Video54's patent-pending BeamFlex(TM) technology, RangeMax incorporates seven smart MIMO antennas to deliver 127 unique antenna patterns that adapt "on the fly" to the network environment by adjusting to RF interference, locations of clients, and physical barriers, resulting in extraordinary range and consistent high-speed data transfer performance throughout the home. RangeMax automatically senses the network environment and dynamically adjusts its antenna configurations to optimize the signal to eliminate dead spots and provide better system performance than available with any other competing wireless networking technologies in existence today. By reducing throughput variance caused by signal fade and interference, RangeMax delivers a consistent stream of data, eliminating video freezing and jittering, and connection drops. The RangeMax wireless routers from NETGEAR will even enhance significantly the range and speed for wireless clients that do not carry the RangeMax circuitries.

"One of the pervasive issues encountered in the implementation of wireless networks is that of sub-par network performance caused by elements such as RF interference and the physical structure in which the network is running," explained Patrick Lo, NETGEAR CEO and Chairman of the Board. "With Video54, we've been able to launch the revolutionary RangeMax technology which dynamically optimizes performance to vastly improve the speed and range of the wireless network, supporting the increasing performance demands of the home network for applications such as streaming multimedia content." "Working together with NETGEAR, we've been able to bring to market our groundbreaking BeamFlex technology that will deliver industry-best wireless network performance," stated Selina Lo, CEO of Video54. "The combination of our advanced antenna and interference management technologies with NETGEAR's extensive background in wireless networking for the consumer and business sectors has resulted in RangeMax, which will bring incredible network performance in an affordable standards-based solution."
