DALLAS -- NEC Unified Solutions, Inc. (NEC), a leader in integrated communications solutions for the enterprise, today announced a reseller agreement with Vocera Communications, a wireless communications solutions company, incorporating the Vocera Communications System with NEC's UNIVERGE(TM) WL converged mobility solution to create a comprehensive offering for instant, wireless, hands-free voice communication.

The UNIVERGE WL system, including wireless LAN infrastructure, handsets and professional services, enables converged mobility within the workplace environment to deliver real-time mission critical communications for improved facility operations. In combination with the Vocera Communications System, which allows users to instantly communicate with one another using wearable communications badges, NEC provides healthcare, hospitality, and retail customers with a comprehensive communications solution to best fit their specific business requirements.

Through the combination of wireless LAN, Voice over IP, and speech recognition technology, in-building mobile workers can speak with the contact they need using the Vocera Communications Badge, which weighs less than two ounces and can be clipped to a shirt pocket or collar, or worn on a lanyard. Basic voice commands operate the badges to instantly connect people over the UNIVERGE WL architecture so they can quickly exchange information anytime, anywhere in their wireless-networked building or campus environment.

"With NEC Unified Solutions as a partner, Vocera is in the position to reach customers that are seeking to improve productivity and efficiency using the best communications solutions available," said Brent Lang, vice president of marketing for Vocera Communications. "By teaming with NEC Unified Solutions as part of their UNIVERGE WL product line, NEC will be able to offer their customers a high-value solution that addresses the most important communications needs."
