NEC establishes NEC Mobile Network Excellence Center in India for offshore development of mobile communication systems
March 27, 2012
TOKYO -- NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) announced today a plan to establish an NEC Mobile Network Excellence Center (NMEC) for the offshore development of mobile communication systems in Chennai, India in April this year.
The NMEC is the first mobile communication system development center that the NEC Group will establish in India. The center will design and develop hardware and software for the PASOLINK series of ultra-compact microwave communication systems, widely accepted as key products for mobile backhaul in the global market. Initially, the NMEC will be located in the NEC India office in Chennai. The center is expected to relocate to a new office in Chennai by the end of this year.
“NEC will recruit local talent and work closely with Indian development partners in order to create a global development system,” said Atsushi Noro, deputy general manager of NEC's Mobile Wireless Network Division.
