Nagravision Taps Spain
Nagravision partners with Abertis Telecom to secure Spanish Mobile TV test
February 12, 2007
BARCELONA -- Nagravision, the world leading independent provider of value-added service and content protection technology, has successfully collaborated with abertis telecom to integrate its conditional access technology into abertis telecom’s DVB-H platform for the company’s Spanish mobile TV technical tests. abertis telecom selected Nagravision’s Nagra Mobile TV to allow partners to test conditional access service protection before possible future commercial deployment across Spain.
DVB-H is a standard specified by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) specifically for the broadcasting of TV content and data to handheld devices, such as mobile phones. Nagravision technology manages user access rights to protect the pay access to the service and maximize the average revenue per user with a palette of pay-media models.abertis telecom tested Nagravision’s Open Security Framework solution based on IsmaCryp encryption standards and DVB Simulcrypt interfaces, to allow interoperability with other conditional access providers. The technical tests focused on various pay services – subscription, pay-per-view and other event-viewing systems - and made use of DVB-H terminals and SIMs updated with Nagravision software.
Adrienne Corboud, Executive Vice President Business Development at Kudelski Group says: “The tests were a great opportunity for Nagravision to work with one of Spain’s leading telecoms providers, abertis telecom, and represent another significant milestone as Spain gets ready to launch mobile TV services.”
