LONDON -- Announced today at the Wi-Fi Planet Conference in Munich, MyZones, the world's first integrated Wi-Fi broadband service provider, has opened it first International operation in Berlin, Germany serving the German speaking region.

Initially, MyZones.de will provide the My Wi-Fi service to German consumers, this service operates over any broadband network and enables the management of Wi-Fi through a value added service offering. The benefits of using a Wi-Fi service over just installing an access point include the creation of a secure wireless network, Wi-Fi dedicated technical support and the creation of three zones to maximize the consumers investment in Wi-Fi.

  • a secure home Wi-Fi network that can link a range of Wi-Fi enabled devices such as laptops, games consoles, desktop pc's, audio players etc. via a single broadband connection.

  • extends the Home Zone to allow neighbours and flatmates to share the broadband connection via the creation of secure accounts that the user can manage and control.

  • the Public Zone enables customers to open up their Wi-Fi network to other MyZones users who are on the move - creating a chain of free public access HotSpots.

The MyZones My Wi-Fi service is sold in partnership with Netgear, a leading provider of Wi-Fi equipment to the retail and SME sector. The MyZones Wi-Fi starter kit includes a Wi-Fi Access point, a Wi-Fi USB adapter and 12 months subscription to the MyZones service and is available today from www.myzones.de for 179 Euro.

The creation of MyZones Germany is the first stage in this development. The German DSL market is the largest in Europe combined with the social nature of the German people and their desire to share their broadband connections in a secure and managed way makes this the logical market to launch our first International service.
