MTNL Launches 3G
MTNL is the first company to launch 3G mobile services in India

NEW DELHI -- Dr. Man Mohan Singh, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, today inaugurated 3G Mobile services of MTNL, in presence of Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology, senior bureaucrats and distinguished gathering. MTNL is the first company to launch 3G mobile services in India. The inauguration of 3G services was marked by Minister of Communications and Information Technology making a “video call” to Hon’ble Prime Minister, using Motorola Motorazor mobile handsets.
In addition to high speed data downloads from the internet that are possible with 3G networks, MTNL also today demonstrated video streaming applications like ”Live TV”, movie downloads etc. through its 3G network, using Samsung TouchWiz (F480) mobile phone, due to its full touch navigation/3G compatibility.
MTNL’s 3rd generation mobile service paves the way for faster and enriching internet experience, and hundreds of interesting applications derived from capability of high speed data transfer rate. Such applications include video calls, mobile TV, wireless broadband (speed up to 2mbps), on line gaming, etc. all in mobile environment.
MTNL has been historically pioneer for introducing latest technology services, ahead of other operators. MTNL has earlier launched IPTV on MPEG4 technology, VOIP and latest technology ADSL 2+ broadband services as first telecom operator.
