LITTLE FALLS, N.J. -- mPhase Technologies (OTCBB:XDSL) today announced the appointment of Simon Abboud, a multilingual business development manager and engineer, as Director-Middle East and Africa Sales.

"Simon Abboud has extensive experience managing complex technology projects, particularly in Saudi Arabia, and we're glad to have him on board to help us expand our IPTV sales effort to broadband network operators throughout the region," said Michael Devlin, executive vice president sales and business development for mPhase.

Abboud, who speaks Arabic and French in addition to English, is a former engineering supervisor for Bechtel Corporation in charge of a major electronics and computer system upgrade at Riyadh International Airport in Saudi Arabia. He also held senior technical management positions at Johnson Controls and Fisher & Porter.

In his new post, Abboud will be responsible for developing and growing mPhase's market share in broadband products, including its flagship mPhase TV+ System, a software-based solution for deploying IPTV over broadband access networks. Telecommunications providers are increasingly looking at broadband television and video on demand services as a means to grow their revenues beyond voice and high-speed data applications.
