Motorola appoints former Telcordia executive Teresa Vega to lead its global CDMA organization

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. -- Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) announced that Teresa (Terry) Vega, corporate vice president joined Motorola’s Mobile Devices Business to lead the global CDMA organization. She will be based at Motorola’s South Plainfield, New Jersey, facility and report directly to Ron Garriques, executive vice president, president of Motorola’s Mobile Devices Business.
“Terry's extensive experience in telecom and wireless brings Motorola deep CDMA industry and customer knowledge, along with a strong technical competency. Terry helped launch the first CDMA networks in the mid-1990s for Sprint, SKT and Verizon, among others,” said Garriques.
Vega most recently served as Group President of Wireless, Cable and Emerging Markets of Telcordia Technologies, a supplier of software solutions for network management and operations. With a charter to start up businesses in markets that Telcordia had not previously pursued, Vega created a $100 million operation in wireless service creation and assurance, growing revenues in excess of 70% per year each year during her two-and-a-half year tenure at Telcordia.
Previously, Vega served as Chief Operating Officer of Lucent's wireless infrastructure business, managing the AMPS, CDMA and TDMA segments. In her six-year tenure in this position, she delivered a greater than 35% compound annual growth rate over the entire period, creating a multibillion-dollar business. Vega also drove a significant profitability turnaround and launched Lucent's highly successful CDMA Network offer, which took over 65% of the world market share for first CDMA build-outs. Vega gained valuable handset experience as President of Wireless Products for Philips Consumer Communications, a joint venture between Lucent and Philips. Her other industry experience includes areas such as network solutions, optical networking and a position as Lucent's Chief Marketing Officer. She previously served on the board of Openet LLC, an industry leader in real-time mediation solutions.
Vega holds a master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University and a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
