MONTREAL -- Miranda Media Networks, a leading provider of video networking solutions, today announced general availability of its new entry level 100 Series edge device. Leveraging state-of-the-art real-time video compression technology, the MMN 100 Series provides fully bi-directional, dual stream DVD quality video and CD quality audio in a compact 1 RU chassis. It benefits from the award-winning MAC 500 technology which has become the industry standard for telecom operators and service providers delivering high quality video services for mission critical applications such as distance education, broadband conferencing for fortune 500 corporations and governments and remote surveillance and tracking for security.

"The 100 Series is the answer to our clients that are looking for a customer premise equipment that delivers the same level of performance and is completely compatible with our 500 Series but at a lower cost per channel" said François Garéipy, General Manager of Miranda Media Networks.

With support for bandwidths ranging from 0.8 to 15 Mbps, the industry's lowest latency at less than 100ms and a range of video inputs including SDI, NTSC and PAL, the 100 Series provides maximum flexibility to deliver the best picture and sound at any bandwidth in most network configurations. A powerful controller and robust network interfaces guarantee maximum sustained network performance through its IP interface or, optionally, using its ATM UNI DS-3 network interfaces. Over IP, the host control software supports advanced traffic management functions such as IEEE 802.1p/q VLAN ID and priority tagging for Ethernet packets carrying MPEG 2 payload, ToS and DiffServ and traffic grooming at the receiver.

The 100 Series provides the most cost effective solution for deploying high end, dual channel broadband conferencing and real-time video networking at a customer premise. When combined with the 500 Series, it delivers the lowest cost per channel solution for large monitoring and surveillance solutions. Moreover, the Hi-Res option, enables the 100 Series to deliver dual High Definition outputs (HD-SDI) at a fraction of the cost and complexity of any other HD solution.
