MOLINE, N.Y. -- Mediacom Communications announced today that the latest technology in digital video recording is a whole house DVR that is now available to customers throughout much of Illinois. The new offering provides seamless television recording and playback in up to three rooms of a home, with the capability of recording six programs at the same time while playing back three recordings.

A whole house DVR allows users to share what is recorded at multiple locations within the household. When users choose to watch the same recording, they can do so in different rooms with the ability to fast-forward, pause or rewind without affecting other viewers. When programs are set for recording, viewers can simultaneously watch the program or turn to another channel without disrupting the record settings, and all of these functions can occur at the same time in up to three different areas of the home.

"Mediacom strives to enhance the TV experience with advanced products that give customers greater flexibility and personalization. With our whole house DVR, users gain unparalleled control over their viewing experience," said Ed Pardini, senior vice president for Mediacom's North Central Operations. "We have been testing the multi-room viewing capabilities of this DVR with a trial group of consumers and they give it superior marks for convenience and functionality."
