FREMONT, Calif. -- LuxNet Corporation has announced the release of 850 nm VCSEL arrays in 1x12 configurations. At 2.5 Gbit/s per channel, the VCSEL arrays support an aggregate data rate of 30Git/s for easy integration into parallel optical transceivers for VSR, Gigabit Ethernet, and InfiniBand applications. Available in chip form to provide packaging flexibility to module designers, the 2.5Gbits/s 1x12 arrays join LuxNet¡¦s existing portfolio of 1.25 Gbit/s and 2.5 Gbit/s 850nm VCSEL chips, TO-cans, and TOSAs; and 3.125 Gbit/s per channel 1x4 VCSEL arrays. Upcoming VCSEL-based products include 3.3 Gbit/s and 10 Gbit/s chips and arrays. "Our VCSEL team has done a stupendous job in perfecting VCSEL arrays that have met all our expectations," commented Hsing Kung, CEO and Founder of LuxNet Corporation. The release of our 2.5Gbit/s per channel 1x12 arrays clearly demonstratesLuxNet¡¦s leadership in opto-electronic device technology.¡¨ "A proprietary device design and fabrication process provides performance that matches that of oxide VCSELs and reliability and yield that rivals that of implant VCSELs," said Andy Liao, VP of Engineering, of the newly released arrays. "We are very pleased with the high yield resulting from our VCSEL design and believe that this capability helps position us as a price and volume leader of 1x4, 1x12 or even larger array products," stated Chin-Wang Tu, President of LuxNet. The 1x12 arrays exhibit a typical threshold current of 1.7 mA, a slope efficiency of 0.35mW/mA, and uniformity of better than 15% across the 12 VCSEL array. LuxNet has also accumulated reliability data of 300,000 device hours at an elevated temperature of 100„aC ambient at three times the operating current. LuxNet will easily enter volume production of the arrays in large quantities by the beginning of 2002. Sample quantities are immediately available. LuxNet Corp.
