Luminous Networks Raises $60 Million in Third Round Funding.

CUPERTINO, CA -- Luminous Networks, the industry's first provider of carrier class Gigabit IP over Fiber optical access switches, today announced that the company has received an additional $60 million in funding from venture and corporate investors. Led by Morgan Stanley Dean Witter Venture Partners, seven noted technology venture capital firms have invested in Luminous Networks, Inc., including DynaFund Ventures, Vanguard Venture Partners, Doll Capital Management, Thomas Weisel Partners, RWI Group and Rader Reinfrank and Co., LLC. As part of this financing, the company also received an investment of $10 million from Scientific Atlanta, Inc.

Luminous Networks will use the new round of funding to support the rapid growth of the company in continued research and development, expansion of marketing and sales and overall company operations in order to meet the market demand from telecommunications carriers for optical access switches that leverage Gigabit over Fiber technology.
