SANTA CRUZ, Calif. -- LightSurf Technologies, Inc., the global leader in open standards multimedia messaging and interoperability solutions, announced today the immediate availability of Global Exchange for MMS (GX-MMS), an outsourced MMS interoperability service for wireless operators. As the first and only commercially deployed MMS interoperability solution in North America, GX-MMS extends LightSurf's lead in media messaging with guaranteed delivery of picture messages, video messages, and other types of mobile content between all CDMA and GSM operator networks.

GX-MMS helps operators to drive increased MMS traffic and revenues from an expanded messaging audience, while reducing costs and complexity through a completely hosted and managed service. The process of deploying and operating integrated MMS services between operators is time consuming and complex. LightSurf's outsourced GX-MMS service solves the challenges of MMS interoperability with guaranteed message delivery, integrated billing, and advanced transcoding features that deliver the best possible user experience for consumers.

Wireless operators are eager to reap the benefits of MMS interoperability, which is expected to be a key driver of MMS growth. Ovum, the analyst and consulting company, expects global MMS revenues to reach $70 billion in 2007.

"LightSurf's expertise is in the area of developing and deploying high availability, mission-critical messaging services. MMS Interop is a natural extension of their platform as they are the company powering North America's highest-volume Picture and Video Messaging Services, " said Andy Seybold, founder of Outlook 4Mobility. "MMS interoperability is infinitely more challenging than SMS as it requires the ability to recognize, translate and deliver a multitude of media messages, pictures, videos and audio files in real-time - not just text."
