MILPITAS, Calif. -- Lambda Optics Inc., a US designer and manufacturer of high-performance fiber optic components, today announced availability of 30, 40 and 60dB multi-functional Variable Optical Attenuators (VOA) for telecommunications as well as test and measurement applications. Lambda Optics' line of VOAs deliver the industry's highest attenuation level with super fine resolution, ultra fast tuning speed and are capable of handling extremely high levels of optical input power. "The high performance level achieved by our new line of VOAs clearly demonstrates our ability to deliver solutions for even the most demanding applications," said Jessie Singh, CEO of Lambda Optics, Inc. "Customers are starting to notice our technical competency and reliability as a supplier which keeps us on track to meet our current goals." The new VOAs are based on Lambda Optics' best-in-class opto-mechanical actuator design with built-in electronic controls. All electronics and the opto-mechanical unit are housed in extremely compact enclosure. The opto-mechanical unit is directly calibrated so that power levels can be set linearly along a dB scale. It can be ordered in either the standard integrated unit or open configurations (i.e. electronics PCB separate from opto-mechanical unit). "Our Smart line of attenuators employs a very reliable non-silicon technology. It offers optical power regulation mode in conjunction with attenuator mode, which is very useful in stabilizing the optical system's power level," said Navrit Singh, CTO of Lambda Optics Inc., who added, "Lambda Optic's VOA is an all digital plug and play multi-functional component with built-in local level of intelligence."
