MONTEREY PARK, Calif. -- Kotura, Inc., a leading provider of silicon opto-electronic integrated circuits, today announced the appointment of Jean-Louis Malinge as Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. Malinge brings over 25 years of business management and R&D experience in the photonics industry, most recently as Vice President, Optical Networking Products at Corning, Inc’s Fountain Valley, CA, facility.

“We are delighted to have Jean-Louis join the Kotura team,” said Cliff Higgerson, co-founder and partner at ComVentures, one of Kotura’s lead investors and a member of the board of directors. “He has a proven track record of leadership successes to guide Kotura through the next phase of development.”

Malinge joined Corning’s Melun, France business unit in 1987 and moved to Corning, NY in 1996 to manage the photonics technology group where he managed the development of photonics components and subassemblies. In 1998 he assumed the role of VP, Optical Components, and had P&L responsibility for a division of more than 1,000 people at three sites in the US and a joint-venture in South Korea.

“Jean-Louis has had a very impressive career building and leading successful businesses,” said Patrick Ennis, Partner at Arch Venture Partners, one of Kotura’s lead investors and a member of the board of directors. “We are looking forward to working with him to continue to build Kotura into a strong and successful company.”

“Kotura is already a recognized leader in the development of silicon opto-electronic integrated circuits,” said Malinge. “ I am thrilled to join the company at this point in the company’s development. Kotura has made significant advances in the development of monolithic and hybrid silicon opto-electronic integrated circuits, resulting in lower cost, smaller form-factor solutions for our customers. Our vision of silicon technology extends to the highest level of integration of electronic and photonic components."

Malinge holds an executive MBA from MIT’s Sloan School, and an M.S. in Physics from the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées in Rennes, France. He is also a member of the board of directors of Auxora.
