KIDLINGTON, U.K. -- Kamelian Ltd, a leading supplier of low cost amplification products for Optical Systems, today announced the appointment of Andy Stoddard as VP, Sales, responsible for the global sales of the company’s range of SOA, SLD, and hybrid integrated products. Andy was previously a sales executive with Bookham and Nortel HPOC’s Director of Sales for North America. He has held a number of senior sales positions in Europe and the US over a ten year career with Nortel.
Paul May, Kamelian’s CEO, said 'Andy has been in the optical telecommunication business for over 20 years, and is well known and highly respected in the industry. We are delighted that he has decided to join us, and to lead Kamelian’s worldwide sales efforts from our new base in North America’.
Kamelian also today announced a key design win for their low cost amplification products based on Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers (SOA). The design win is with BTI Photonic Systems for use in their recently announced range of amplified CWDM products.
Bob Press, Kamelian’s VP, Marketing said ‘we are very pleased that BTI have chosen to adopt our SOA technology. Not only does the SOA improve on the cost and performance of the EDFA in DWDM systems but it also offers clear advantages in CWDM systems, where there is no competing amplifier technology. ’
BTI Photonic Systems has expanded the Netstender™ system platform from SONET and DWDM to include CWDM applications. “By integrating Kamelian’s SOAs, we’re able to provide amplifier modules as part of a complete CWDM optical layer solution” said Chris Egner, Vice President of Business Development and Sales at BTI. “We’re helping to make CWDM network deployments practical”.
