Juniper Networks is selected to secure Israel service provider Bezeq's IP network
February 16, 2005
SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR) today announced that Bezeq, the largest telecom provider in Israel, has selected Juniper Networks security solutions for the data protection of its MPLS-based IP network. Juniper Networks worked closely with its local partner, Bynet, and BezeqCall, a systems integrator specializing in business solutions, to win this competitive tender.
Bezeq's network security solution being deployed consists of the Juniper Networks NetScreen-5200 integrated firewall and IPsec VPN system and the Juniper Networks NetScreen-Security Manager platform. Operating at up to 4G/ps (firewall throughput) and up to 2G/ps (VPN throughput), the NetScreen-5200 provides wirespeed performance for Bezeq's IP VPN network. The Juniper Networks solution also provides high-speed traffic routing and filtering capabilities and supports VPN routing & forwarding (VRF) and Virtual Local Area Networks (VLAN). The NetScreen-Security Manager manages and monitors the security deployment from a central location.
Bezeq's requirements for its new security solution primarily focused upon the ability to process large and increasing volumes of customer data traffic, coupled with high performance and reliability to ensure quality of service for Bezeq's customers. These requirements led Bezeq to focus upon a hardware-based security solution; which avoids the data processing 'bottlenecks' and performance issues typically created by software-based security products.
Bezeq's IPsec network serves as the infrastructure for the provision of secure, advanced IP services. The VPN solution enables Bezeq to sell these services to its customers at a premium. Customers can choose the services required from a Web-based graphic interface and gain access to their corporate network, from anywhere in the world and using a variety of means of secure access. Ofer Perry, CEO of BezeqCall, said: 'The implementation of future-proofed, effective and secure broadband service networks is a huge challenge for telecoms providers. This deployment has been achieved successfully by properly integrating Juniper Networks' best-in-class security technology into an innovative MPLS network. It is proof of our capabilities and positions us as a leading integrator of IP communication and data protection solutions in this region.'
