HIGH BLANTYRE, U.K. -- Peter Bordui has joined Intense Photonics as a non-executive director. With over 20 years' experience in optoelectronics, culminating in corporate managerial roles with JDS Uniphase, Bordui brings a wealth of experience of the international fibre optics components industry - including first-hand knowledge of establishing businesses based on new technology. "Intense Photonics is one of a few suppliers who are able to integrate the active components needed for DWDM transmission", says Peter Bordui. "Its chip manufacturing process has tremendous potential for driving equipment costs down, in ways that make sense for either today's system architectures - such as multi-channel versions of established functions - or for next-generation systems." A graduate of MIT, Bordui joined fiber optic giant JDS Uniphase in 1999, and became VP and General Manager of the organization's core Source Lasers business unit, before leaving in December 2001 to concentrate on consultancy. His other activities in this sphere include positions on the boards of the NASDAQ-quoted optoelectronic component company New Focus, and the Scottish start-up Photonic Materials - who make wafers for the optical components industry.
