ANAHEIM, Calif. -- OFC 2002 -- ITF Optical Technologies Inc., a worldwide supplier of state-of-the-art photonic components for next-generation optical networks, introduces a family of All-Fiber® Depolarizer products, that will significantly improve the price/performance of Raman amplifiers.Currently, Raman designs are constrained by the need to combine the polarization of pairs of pumps in order to obtain a satisfactory performance. As a consequence, Raman amplifiers are still not cost effective and most designers are looking for alternatives that could bring significant cost reductions. ITF’s Depolarizers solve this problem by scrambling the polarizations therefore reducing both the design complexity and the required part count. "Amplifiers based on the Raman effect have proven to be an enabler of ultra long-haul and high-speed telecommunication systems, but have had limited deployment to date. With the second generation of Raman designs incorporating simpler component architectures through new depolarization schemes, Raman amplifiers will be deployed more extensively," said Eric Geoffrion, President and CEO of ITF Optical Technologies. This new product complements ITF’s amplification portfolio, which also includes Wavelength Pump Multiplexers, Gain Flattening Filters, Polarization Pump Combiners, as well as a broad range of components qualified for the undersea market.ITF Optical Technologies Inc.For more information on OFC 2002, please visit: www.nottheofc.com
