MIAMI -- IPTV Americas today announced that it will launch the first MPEG-4 IPTV solution made available to Latin American telecommunications providers using TANDBERG Television (OSE:TAT) compression technologies. By the third quarter of this year, IPTV Americas' centralized digital head-end in Miami will enable telephone companies (telcos) to offer affordable television services and complete their triple play offering.
Telcos in Latin America have extensive land line coverage with broader reach than existing cable networks, so the ability to offer triple play services presents a tremendous opportunity for the telcos to build additional customers and revenue and to reduce churn.
"IPTV presents telcos with a solution to offer triple play with their present network infrastructure," said Alvaro Gazzolo, chief executive officer of IPTV Americas. "IPTV Americas is dedicated to helping Latin American telcos broaden their business and increase customer satisfaction with affordable IPTV products and services. Only with IPTV Americas' proven management experience in Latin America's pay-TV industry together with TANDBERG Television's leading technologies were we able to offer a high-quality IPTV solution to our clients and content providers."
