InSilica Picks GDA's 10-GigE MAC IP Cores

GDA Technologies licenses its 10 Gigabit (XGEMAC) and 1 Gigabit (GEMAC) Ethernet MAC IP cores to inSilica

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- GDA Technologies, Inc., a fast growingsupplier of Intellectual Property (IP) and Electronic Design Services (EDS),today announced that it has licensed its 10 Gigabit (XGEMAC) and 1 Gigabit(GEMAC) Ethernet MAC IP cores to inSilica Inc., a leading supplier ofcustomer specific SoC solutions. XGEMAC is industry’s first UNH_IOLcompliance validated 10 Gigabit Ethernet MAC IP core targeting LAN, MAN, WANswitches and routers, traffic aggregators, multiplexers and test equipmentsapplications. inSilica will be incorporating the XGEMAC IP core into itsnext generation communication products.

The XGEMAC adheres to the IEEE 802.3ae standard and is available for bothASIC and FPGA implementations. Its simple, configurable and modulararchitecture is independent of application logic, PHY designs,implementation tools and most importantly target technologies. The XGEMACprovides XGMII interface to the line side and a flexible backend interfaceto the user logic on the system side. The XGEMAC has an extensive set offiltering capabilities based on source, destination, unicast, multicast, andbroadcast addresses as well as being VLAN aware. The optional FIFO modulesupports configurable depths and watermarks with a variety of controloptions to support lossless flow control. The core also provides ratematching for OC-192 PHY components and a full set of statistics counters tosupport SNMP/RMON.
