TOKYO -- Internet Initiative Japan Inc. (IIJ) and NTT DoCoMo today announced a preliminary agreement under which IIJ will become the first mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) to use DoCoMo’s 3G FOMA™ network to offer corporate data communications services supported by DoCoMo’s HSDPA technology. Details of actual operations are currently under discussion.

As the first step, IIJ, one of Japan’s leading Internet-access and comprehensive network solutions providers, plans to offer corporate customers an Internet connection service that supports HSDPA 3.6 Mbps high-speed mobile data communications starting in January 2008. The goal is to meet a growing need among corporate users to access company networks via secure mobile broadband.

IIJ also plans to provide comprehensive outsourcing services for mobile data communications, including mobile data-communications terminals, network and data-center management and system maintenance.
