ICTV to Demo TV Mosaics
ICTV unveils the answer to TV’s growing search and selection problem
August 30, 2007
LOS GATOS, Calif. -- ICTV® today announced that the multi-channel video industry’s first personalised navigational mosaic will make its European debut on the ICTV stand (5.238) at IBC 2007 in Amsterdam.
With the explosive increase in available programming being afforded by multi-channel television, VoD and User Generated Content, viewers face the growing problem of sorting out their favourite programs and finding new things to watch. Using the power of its ActiveVideo™ Distribution Network (AVDN™), which is capable of seamlessly combining linear, on-demand, and broadband programming, ICTV is able to offer a video rich navigational mosaic (P:Mosaic™) which enables navigation across the multiple programming sources. Viewers can tailor the mosaic to group and show only those programs which are of interest using their remote control; personal profiles can also be managed online using any web connect device.
ICTV’s P:Mosaic was launched in the US earlier this year by Grande Communications Networks Inc. and is already proving to be a firm favourite amongst customers. “P:Mosaic allows viewers to create customised profiles that help them find the content that is most important to them, and enables operators, programmers and advertisers to identify preferences that enhance one-to-one relationships with their viewers,” said Jeff Miller, president and CEO of ICTV. “We have also been delighted to find that program providers are also keen to use the P:Mosaic as a portal for their own channel family, relying upon our technology independence to be able to plan the delivery of these portals across multiple delivery networks.”
The ActiveVideo Distribution Network (AVDN) blends an engaging, interactive viewer experience with uncompromising video quality and responsiveness to create a dynamic environment that combines the best features of broadband and television media. This powerful combination enables operators to include non-intrusive advertising into their viewers’ search and selection activities making the service highly beneficial for both viewers and operators alike.
