Huawei Introduces New Intelligent IT Infrastructure to Achieve New Growth With Carriers Worldwide

Recent years have seen the rapid development of emerging technologies such as 5G, IoT, and cloud computing. As global connections are expected to boom, data to increase and computing power to surge in the coming decade, an important industrial digital transformation is on its way.

This industrial digital transformation will create a huge number of opportunities for carriers. But first, carriers will have to focus on accelerating their own digital transformation, while enabling industries to go digital. With this impending transformation come new requirements, which carriers will have to meet by upgrading their IT infrastructure.

New requirements emerging for carriers amidst digital transformation

Thanks to the rapid rollout of 5G, carriers will soon need to be able to launch new services, including B2C and B2H services, in just a couple weeks or even days, as well as support rapid network rollout and business innovation. Therefore, a cloud-native architecture and process is necessary to achieve shorter time-to-market for new services.

With data volume increasing exponentially, unified data pools are needed to reach higher data resource utilization and effective flow. In addition, to help industries go global and address the wide array of reliability, data protection, and latency requirements from customers in different industries, unified multi-cloud collaboration and management are crucial in providing the ability to deploy different types of clouds with increased management efficiency and shorter troubleshooting times.

To enable carriers' digital & intelligent transformation, Huawei has created a green, reliable, efficient, and intelligent IT foundation, which includes a fully-collaborative distributed cloud and an all-scenario data pool, with diversified computing clusters and superior computing power. It is designed to help carriers increase revenue, reduce costs, improve efficiency, and achieve new growth.

A fully-collaborative distributed cloud fuels revenue growth

Created by Huawei Cloud as an industry first, the fully-collaborative distributed cloud is a handy tool for carriers to achieve ICT orchestration, cloud-network synergy, and cloud-edge synergy. With this solution, carriers can provide guaranteed experiences for app users unlimited by geography, multi-cloud collaboration, and data traffic – all while enjoying revenue growth.

Putting forth the concept of Everything as a Service, Huawei Cloud is the fastest growing cloud service provider in the world. It combines telecom and network know-hows to help carriers achieve agile cloud migration and rapid business growth through offering: Infrastructure as a Service for global accessibility, Technology as a Service for easy innovation, and Expertise as a Service for shared excellence.

By the end of 2021, Huawei Cloud and its partners had already built 61 availability zones in 27 areas to serve more than 170 countries and regions. It works with more than 120 carriers in the cloud service market to help enterprise customers go digital, while providing more than 50 scenario-specific cloud services for nine vertical markets, such as manufacturing, retail, and healthcare.

New data infrastructure for service innovation

As the world undergoes a full industrial digital transformation, the need to run data faster, maximize data resource utilization, and manage data more easily grows too. This calls for an all-scenario data pool for carriers, and Huawei’s new industry-leading OneStorage solution fulfills just that with on-demand resource provisioning, intelligent data management, and multi-cloud convergence.

As part of a commitment to continuous innovation and meeting the ever-evolving needs of customers, a brand-new series of innovative data infrastructure solutions was also recently introduced. The new OceanStor Dorado all-flash storage applies to increasingly diverse data types, while the next-generation OceanStor hybrid flash storage covers increasingly inclusive data applications. In terms of data protection, the OceanProtect dedicated backup storage ensures rapid backup and recovery. Lastly, the DCS Data Center Virtual Storage Solutions enable data centers in becoming more efficient. And the OceanStor Pacific massive storage solution was also released earlier, which provides efficient and intensive storage for massive unstructured data.

Huawei’s suite of data solutions has been used to great success around the world as carriers maneuver across various data scenarios. With shortened bill run time and increased resource usage and management efficiency, it has dramatically improved customer experience. A carrier customer in Europe was able to address a surge in storage demand from video services by using Huawei's OceanStor Pacific, greatly reducing energy consumption and the need for equipment room space. Another European customer successfully migrated nine of its existing data centers with Huawei’s professional data migration service, which not only resolved some of its biggest pain points, but also effectively led to faster transmission speeds and zero interruptions.

By the end of 2021, Huawei had supported over 300 carriers worldwide with its intelligent and efficient data storage services. In addition, the OceanStor Dorado solution has been named a Leader in Gartner's Magic Quadrant for six years in a row.

As industrial digital transformation approaches, the need for a green, reliable, efficient, and intelligent IT infrastructure becomes ever more critical for carriers. And only by rolling out upgraded IT infrastructure that meets new requirements and helps industries go digital will carriers be able to accelerate their own digital growth and leverage the opportunities that are coming along with this imminent transformation. The result will be increased revenue, reduced costs, and improved efficiency – thereby achieving new growth together.
