FITCHBURG, Mass. -- Headwall Photonics announces the launch of its Low Polarization Dependent Loss (LPDL) 1100 series of original holographic gratings. The LPDL 1100 series meets the needs of customers in the telecommunications industry by providing a high efficiency, low PDL passive component that separates light into discrete channels with higher dispersion than was previously available to the industry.

Headwall can customize the performance of these gratings based on the customer’s application-specific requirements. The introduction of this product further extends Headwall’s market leadership in the design and high-volume manufacture of wavelength solutions for demanding telecom applications.

Aside from the small package design, the LPDL 1100 and 900 series offer significant advantages for OEM customers. “Headwall’s modeling capabilities and manufacturing process controls provide application-specific performance allowing our customers to reduce the need for compensating components and thus lowering overall system cost,” states Larry Barstow, Headwall president and CEO.
