BEIJING -- World Wide Packets, the leading provider of Ethernet Access networking solutions, today announced that its LightningEdge(TM) suite has been selected for deployment by Great Wall Broadband Network Service Co. Ltd. (GWBN), one of China's fastest growing broadband service providers. By selecting World Wide Packets, GWBN is able to deliver simultaneous telephony, business and entertainment video, broadband data, and Internet access services, to any combination of business and residential subscribers, using Ethernet over fiber. This purchase marks the beginning of strategic cooperation between GWBN and World Wide Packets to deliver IP converged services to their residential and business customers.
In partnership with Alliance Digital, Inc, a leading China-focused telecommunications business development services company, World Wide Packets has been deployed across GWBN's broadband network. GWBN selected World Wide Packets Active Ethernet solution because of the company's ability to deliver carrier class products that enable highly reliable and resilient networks with fully symmetrical 100 Mb/s or 1 Gb/s dedicated bandwidth to every subscriber.
"As one of the fastest growing broadband service providers in China, our goal is to offer our residential and business customers a mix of voice, data, and video services at a highly competitive price," said Mr. Sun, CEO of Great Wall Broadband Network. "We selected World Wide Packets because they offered the only solution that provided the scalability necessary to provide our customers with a breadth of services, while at the same time giving us the ability to continue to add subscribers to the network with a rich feature set."
According to the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), Internet users in China have increased to more than 79 million and continue to grow in terms of broadband subscribers. Instrumental in this growth is GWBN, which will offer its customers a host of new and existing services using World Wide Packets including, data access, voice, VPNs, IP Centrex, video (VOD, IPTV), content and gaming, interactive television programs, and distance education.
"GWBN's selection of World Wide Packets continues to validate the advantage of deploying active Ethernet for broadband networks and also firmly establishes our presence in Asia," said Dave Curry, president and CEO of World Wide Packets. "As leading-edge service providers such as GWBN offer triple play services to customers, the need to supply a guaranteed level of bandwidth is paramount. Our LightningEdge product family is unique in its ability to guarantee service level agreements using Ethernet as an alternative to SDH giving customers the flexibility required to support a mix of services for commercial and residential subscribers alike."
