ATLANTA -- Funk Software, the leading commercial developer of RADIUS solutions, today announced the commercial release of Odyssey(TM) Client, a universal access Client based on the IEEE security standard 802.1x that lets enterprise and hotspot users securely and anonymously connect over a wireless link to a network. Odyssey Client is available stand-alone, or can be private-labeled or integrated into an existing connection manager by hotspot providers and WISPs who wish to provide a universal 802.1x client to their enterprise customers. "802.1x has already emerged as the WLAN security standard for the enterprise - and now these companies are demanding its strong security when their workers connect from airports, coffee shops, and other wireless hotspot locations," said Joe Ryan, vice president of Funk Software. "Hotspot providers and WISPs can meet these enterprise customers' security requirements - and add new 802.1x services to their offerings - with Odyssey Client." Odyssey Client supports multiple strong WLAN security methods - fully protecting users against wireless snooping and cryptographic attack on credentials and data - and runs on Windows XP, 2000, 98, and Me.
