RICHARDSON, TX -- Fujitsu Network Communications, Inc., has made its popular FLM line of fiber-optic multiplexers easier to install and manage, with a new software release, 15.1S/BS, that provides the customer with advanced configuration and signal detection features.
One of the release's major new features, Auto-configuration, dramatically reduces the amount of time needed to install a new shelf. This is accomplished by automatically detecting the type of cards plugged into the shelf, setting the associated system configuration parameters, and placing the installed equipment in service.
Another new feature, Signal Auto-detection, allows the network provider to completely pre-provision and test a new service order in advance of the actual service start date. No alarms are reported to the operations center until a valid input signal is detected and a preset timer has expired. At that point, normal surveillance and performance monitoring is initiated.
Both capabilities are among a host of new features that are available immediately for Fujitsu's FLM 2400 ADM (add/drop multiplexer), FLM 600 ADM and FLM 150 ADM. The FLM 2400 ADM, Fujitsu's best-selling product, is an OC-48 (2.5 Gbps) add/drop multiplexer. The FLM 600 ADM is an OC-12 (622 Mbps) add/drop system, and the FLM 150 ADM is an OC-3 (155 Mbps) multiplexer with the ability to be grown in service to an OC-12 (622 Mbps) add/drop system.
