Vancouver - 360networks announced today it will provide more than US $100 million of broadband capacity to France Telecom and Intelig Telecommunications Ltda on the 360americas subsea and terrestrial fiber optic network linking North America and South America. 360networks will provide France Telecom and Intelig 10 gigabit-per-second wavelength capacity on its planned 28,000-kilometer (17,400-mile) network connecting the United States, Bermuda, Brazil, Argentina and Venezuela. The agreement includes a purchase of capacity and options to purchase additional capacity in the near future.
"This marks a milestone for 360networks, as France Telecom and Intelig are our first 360americas customers," said Jim Brennan, senior vice-president of global sales and marketing at 360networks. "As an independent network provider, we had the flexibility to provide a customized service package that met the unique needs of both France Telecom and Intelig."
