Extended Systems to demonstrate Bluetooth telematics technology and present new Bluetooth applications at Bluetooth World Congress 2003

BOISE, Idaho -- Extended Systems will present several live demonstrations of Bluetooth applications and will speak on several current topics at the upcoming Bluetooth World Congress in Amsterdam, June 17-19, 2003.

Technology Demonstrations

  • Bluetooth-enabled BMW Z4 Roadster -- Extended Systems, in conjunction with BMW, will demonstrate a BMW Z4 Roadster equipped with Bluetooth. The Bluetooth capabilities in the BMW Z4 Roadster will allow drivers to control consumer devices and console functions via a voice connection over Bluetooth, allowing them to stay focused on driving. Demonstrations of the technology in action will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 to 5:00 p.m., daily in booth #306.

  • Frontline Test Equipment -- Extended Systems' partner Frontline Test Equipment will demonstrate a Bluetooth protocol analyzer capable of sniffing mixed piconets. This allows developers to easily test compliance with published Bluetooth specifications. Demonstrations will take place throughout the course of the conference in booth #306.



Speaking Engagements

  • Sensing using Bluetooth Technology -- June 18, 3:25 p.m. -- Brian Senese, applications engineer at Extended Systems, will explore the uses of wireless sensing (temperature, movement, etc.) and how Bluetooth can be utilized to meet power and footprint requirements.

  • Components Necessary to Implement a SyncML over Bluetooth Solution for a Mobile Device -- June 19, 12:00 p.m. -- Dennis McNamara, worldwide sales manger for Extended Systems' Universal Mobile Connectivity Group, will discuss what it takes to implement a SyncML mobile solution over Bluetooth. The presentation will cover the device side and will also discuss the SyncML components for the embedded device, embedded OBEX, the Windows connectivity requirements, Windows OBEX, Device Management, SyncML on Windows, and connection to Windows-based PIM. The presentation will take place at the Vendor Solutions Theatre on the conference floor.
