Ericsson signs managed services and GSM infrastructure contract with Brasil Telecom

STOCKHOLM -- Ericsson has been chosen to establish, operate and maintain Brasil Telecom's GSM Core operations in the region of Rio Grande do Sul, Paraná, Santa Catarina and Brasília, and radio network in the region of Rio Grande do Sul. The Managed Services contract is under five-year period and includes GSM infrastructure as well as the day-to-day management of Brasil Telecom's network.

"Brasil Telecom aim is to be the first complete operator in Brazil, offering mobile and fixed telephony and Internet", says Ricardo Sacramento, president of Brasil Telecom GSM. "We are very pleased with our Managed Services partnership with Ericsson and it has improved Brasil Telecom's efficiency and is continuously saving operational costs for us".
