SYDNEY -- Engana Pty Ltd, a supplier of intelligent optical modules for reconfigurable optical networks, today announced the LambdaSelect tunable optical filter module for Reconfigurable Optical Add/Drop Multiplexers. Based on proven micro-optic technology, the LambdaSelect filter provides continuous tuning over the entire C-band. The LambdaSelect filter module contains up to 4 individually controlled filters and includes all control electronics and firmware.
LambdaSelect models are available for both 50GHz and 100GHz channel spacing and use a patented design to achieve both low loss and low polarization dependence. The LambdaSelect has no moving parts and has the unique ability to lock to, and track, the optical signal without requiring a separate ‘dither’ signal on either the optical carrier or the filter.
”We are now beginning to see a strong user demand for optical reconfigurability in optical communications networks,“ said Dr Simon Poole, Engana’s CEO. ”Engana’s LambdaSelect filter enables reconfigurability by combining innovative optical design with the control hardware and algorithms required for easy-to-integrate tunable optical filters. This is just the first of a series of products targeting the needs of equipment manufacturers for sub-modules for reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexing.”
